The Hoppetosse has seen a lot - the life of this ship is probably more impressive than that of many people: built on the Baltic Sea in 1928 and originally served as a classic excursion steamer. Then with the beginning of the war, pleasure gave way to function: the Hoppetosse was converted into a hospital ship with a berth in Wilhelmshaven. In 1944 - shortly before the end of the war - the ship was sunk by a bomb. It layed at the bottom of the Baltic Sea for two years before it was finally salvaged and made roadworthy again.
The MS Hoppetosse was once again used as a passenger ship before finally finding its way into the waters of the capital in the late 1990s. The upper deck of the Hoppetosse was cut off for the crossing with the tugboat to Berlin - so that the bridges on the Spree could be passed without any problems. Finally, what belonged together was put back together again.
Today, the Hoppetosse is firmly anchored in the Osthafen, where it will remain and host all sort of gatherings. From weddings, to afterwork drinks and canapes, sun down get together, …
